Our Story

FriendMotion is an animation and motion capture studio based in Nanjing, China. Founded on a passion for bringing characters to life, we have spent over a decade working at the intersection of technology and storytelling, serving productions across games, film, television, and virtual experiences.

Our expertise spans motion capture, facial animation, and digital human technologies. We combine advanced production tools with a team of experienced artists who understand that great animation is never just technical. Founder & Motion Capture Expert

Bob Jiao

Bob Jiao is a motion capture expert with over two decades of experience in performance capture for the film and video game industries. Since earning his role as a motion capture supervisor in 2004, he has led teams on some of the most demanding and high-profile productions in the industry.

His work goes beyond the studio floor. Bob has been deeply involved in the research and development of motion capture hardware systems and software pipelines, contributing directly to the evolution of professional performance capture technology at an industry level.
His production credits include internationally acclaimed titles such as God of War (2018), Mortal Kombat X, and projects within the Resident Evil franchise, reflecting a career built on precision, creative collaboration, and technical excellence.

It was this same commitment to quality that led Bob to found FriendMotion Atelier, with a clear vision: to bring world-class motion capture solutions to global film, game, and virtual production industries, and to build a studio where technology and artistry work hand in hand.

Kris Lu leads all commercial partnerships and business collaborations at FriendMotion, serving as the primary bridge between the studio and its clients worldwide.
